If music needs proof, then the thrill is gone
There’s a high chance that the new song you have been humming along to for the past week was not made by a human. Deezer reports nearly half of new uploads are AI-generated, and most listeners can’t tell the difference.
And that’s a problem. Music is culture, identity, connection, and meaning; all tied to the artist, their story, or a moment. Now hesitation is creeping in. A micro-moment of doubt where we question the authenticity of what we are hearing. Platforms have added ‘verified’ or ‘transparency’ tags to help us work out what is and isn’t real. But when ‘real’ needs a badge, the magic is already lost. That split-second shift from discovery to questioning is everything.
